08//01/10 - Camp Louemma (Sussex, NJ) 2:00pm
Helping Students Celebrate Jewish Identity and See Through Jewish eyes.
In this workshop, early childhood educators will experience the celebration of our culture (holidays, food, traditions, Yiddish words) through a method of “dipping” everything in our world into the “Jewish Bucket." We will explore ways to help our students see life through plans to use in your classroom as well.
In this active and fun learning workshop, everyone becomes a songwriter. Mama Doni and her live band will show preschool teachers a variety of ways to create their own original Jewish music for their classrooms.
"Mama Doni led a creative, exciting teacher workshop for our 100+ staff members at the annual Jewish Bucks County Early Childhood Conference. Teachers were dancing in the aisles and writing and presenting songs that they wrote during the workshop. Many of their songs have since been used in their classroom. The energy was electric as they worked to finish their songs and to present them to the conference participants. Mama Doni is able to get even the most non-musical teachers to find their niche. Her hand-outs were well structured and easy to use. The evaluations of the workshop were positive and included comments like 'excellent concert and teacher in-service', 'excellent - Mama Doni is awesome', 'very energetic','loved the music', 'workshop was excellent', 'fun, entertaining, useful', and 'excellent ideas'. Both directors and teachers were engaged and learned
new skills."
